Bestman Speech to Jason Neumann June 1, 2002
June 1, 2002
“Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, friends, relatives, hangers on and hotel staff. I am Brandon, Jasons Best Man and I am sure we will all agree this has been a wonderful day and really got Jason and Stacys marriage off to a perfect start.
Well that was until they gave me the floor so apologies for what is to come but as they say every silver lining must have its cloud and its me.
First, I want to thank Jason for his support to me throughout the day. Hes been brilliant, absolutely solid as a rock, and I couldnt have got through it without him.
Of course, Stacy looks absolutely fantastic today; one in a million, and Jason looks like he always does, won in a raffle
Anyways, I agreed to be Jason’s best man anyway and I feel I have succeeded in my duties, those including, making sure the groom arrived, on-time (difficult), sober (sort of), and smart (well, two out of three aint bad).
So Jason was born August 26, 1975, and the oldest of four. So mom and dad obviously thought they could do better.
We met in his dorm room back in 1997, where for some reason pizza and beer didnt mix well with him. Not long after we began to go out in our circle of friends and we soon found that we shared many interests and our senses of humor were similar.
Then in October of 1998 I met Stacy via the mail slot, you see a person would have to be at least 63 see out our window, but through the mail slot a person of my meager height can see who is at the door, and it was Stacy. She was an hour early for their date, but it appears that everything worked out for the best.
So lets fast forward to today, June 1st, 2002, on the day of their wedding. Nearly 5 years since we met, and almost 4 years after they met we are here.
I’d just like to say Jason, you are a lucky groom; marrying Stacy today. She deserves a good husband. So thank God you married her before she found one.
On a more serious note, Jason we have had some excellent times together and I know that we will continue to do so in the future. You have been a great friend to me over the years, and it is a great honor to be your best man.
In closing, Ladies and Gentlemen, it gives me great pleasure to invite you all to stand and raise your glasses in a toast to Jason and Stacy the new Mr. and Mrs. Neumann. We wish them well for the future, and hope they enjoy a long, happy, and fruitful marriage. Jason and Stacy”
